How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

Charlotte County regulates tree and vegetation removal, and which rules apply depends on whether your lot sits in unincorporated county or inside a municipality.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and native species are treated differently from invasive exotics such as Brazilian pepper. Mature live oaks tend to attract more attention than understory growth, and work near a canal or the harbour may involve more than the county.

Has storm regrowth made lots worse?
On a lot of parcels noticeably, yes. Pepper and tangled storm timber come back thick, and a lot left through a couple of seasons is a materially bigger job than the same lot was before. It is still one pass, it just takes longer.
I am out of state and cannot visit the lot. Can you still quote?
Yes, and it is a common ask here. Send the lot number and whatever photographs you can get from an agent or a neighbour. We would rather work from an imperfect picture and tell you what we can see than send you a number with no basis.
You have only done two jobs in Port Charlotte. Why call you?

What happens to everything you cut?

Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing and whether your lot is in unincorporated county or a municipality. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
