Land Clearing in Placida, Florida
Forestry mulching, underbrushing and coastal lot clearing across Placida and the Cape Haze peninsula. One machine cuts, grinds and spreads in a single pass, so nothing is piled, burned or trucked off your street.
- Priced from photographs, usually same day
- Both our Placida visits cleared two parcels at once
- From $3,000 a machine day
What we clear in Placida
Eight things we are actually asked for on Charlotte County coastal ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.
One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.
A held lot on the peninsula that has closed in with pepper and palmetto, taken back to ground you can see across.
Brazilian pepper and scrub taken out from under the cabbage palms and pines you are keeping.
You mark what stays and we cut round it. Near the water the mature palms and pines are usually the reason the lot is worth what it is.
Building envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before your builder arrives.
The strip along the road and the line between you and next door, cleared without touching what the neighbour wants kept.
Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.
Mulching leaves everything where it falls. Grubbing does not, so the haul is quoted per job when it applies.
Who calls us in Charlotte County
Both our Placida visits cleared a pair of parcels in one trip. If you own next door too, or your neighbour wants the same work, that is the cheapest way to buy a machine day.
A lot that grew back over a summer you were not here for, put straight in a single visit without you needing to attend.
Clearing the envelope, the drive and the pad before the builder mobilises, so the site is ready rather than a delay.
Brazilian pepper takes coastal ground faster than almost anything. Mulching removes the standing growth in one pass.
A lot nobody can walk is a lot nobody buys, and on the peninsula the view is most of the value.
Ground where regrowth and debris have closed in since a storm season and need clearing before anything else can happen.
How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the lot size, and a note on what you want left standing. If there is a second parcel next door, mention it now rather than later.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. If we think the ground will need a second day we say so before you book.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which on a quiet coastal road is the difference between a tidy job and a disruptive one.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet season and slows down what comes back.

What it costs
We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Both times we have worked in Placida we cleared two parcels in the same visit, which is the one arrangement that reliably lowers the cost per lot.
Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine for a peninsula lot
Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport
Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run
What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.
What we have actually done in Placida
Four finished jobs and five machine days, both visits in 2024. Both times we cleared a pair of parcels rather than one.
| Jul 2024 | Two parcels at one acre each, 1 machine day each, in the same visit |
| Oct 2024 | Two parcels at two acres each, one taking 2 machine days and one taking 1 |
| The pattern | Four jobs, two visits. Nobody in Placida has yet booked us for a single parcel |
| Elsewhere in the county | Six more jobs across Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, 7 machine days |
Two of the two Placida visits were neighbouring pairs. That is worth knowing before you call: the machine is already on site and the transport is already paid, so the second parcel is materially cheaper than the first. Two of the four recorded a machine and both ran with the skid steer mulcher.
The ground on a Placida lot
| What grows here | Cabbage palm and slash pine over saw palmetto on the higher ground, with Brazilian pepper dominating anything disturbed and mangrove fringe where the land meets the water. Pepper is the bulk of the volume on most held lots here |
| What that means for a machine | Pepper is woody but springy and mulches quickly once the machine is into it. Palmetto root mat is the slower part. A coastal acre here is normally a comfortable day |
| Water and salt | Low lying ground with a high water table and tidal influence close to the shoreline. Mangrove is a different question from scrub and is not something we touch without you having confirmed what is allowed |
| Access | Quiet peninsula roads with narrow verges. Getting the machine off the road and onto the lot is usually straightforward, but a photograph of the frontage settles it before the day |
Cleared in a single visit, both times we have worked in Placida. If your neighbour wants the same job, asking together is the cheapest way to buy a machine day.
What customers say
FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.
Jenny AndersonWe had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.
Joseph KellyThese guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.
Adam WilsonBefore you book: trees on a Charlotte County lot
Charlotte County regulates tree and vegetation removal, and coastal parcels carry questions that inland ones do not. Worth a look before you decide what comes down.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and native species are treated differently from invasive exotics such as Brazilian pepper. Mangrove is protected separately under state rules and is not something we will touch on your say so alone.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs, and say how close the lot runs to the water. That is the question most worth settling before anyone books a machine on this peninsula.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Charlotte County or the state, for anything near mangrove before you commit.
Placida questions
How much does it cost to clear a lot in Placida?
From $3,000 a machine day. Most peninsula lots are a single day. If you and a neighbour both want clearing, ask together, because both of our Placida visits cleared two parcels at once and that is where the saving is.
Can you do two lots in one trip?
Yes, and here it is the norm rather than the exception. July 2024 was two one acre parcels and October 2024 was two two acre parcels, each pair run in the same visit.
How long does it take?
Three of our four Placida jobs were a single machine day. One of the two acre parcels took two. Thick pepper, palms you want kept and wet ground are what push it, and we say so before you book.
Will you take out Brazilian pepper?
Yes, and on most held lots here it is the bulk of the job. Mulching removes the standing growth in one pass. Where the roots have to come out too, that is grubbing with the excavator rather than a mulching head.
My lot backs onto mangrove. What then?
We stop short of it. Mangrove is protected separately under state rules and we will not clear it on a verbal assurance. Tell us where the line is when you send photographs and we will work to it.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned, and no line of trucks down a quiet coastal road.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
