About Florida Land Clearing
We are a forestry mulching and land clearing outfit working across Florida. We have been at it since late 2021, and since October 2023 we have logged every job we finish with its town, its month, its acreage, its machine and its day count. Everything printed on this site comes out of that log.

What we actually do
Eight things, and they are the eight we are equipped for. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.
One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. It is the bulk of what we do and it is what the day rates are built around.
Palmetto, briar and scrub taken out from under trees you are keeping, so ground becomes walkable without losing the canopy over it.
A platted lot that has grown in, or a block measured in acres. The method is the same and only the day count changes.
Where roots have to leave the ground rather than be ground off at the surface. The 30 inch excavator, on its own rate.
Building envelope, drive and pad taken to workable ground before a builder mobilises.
Commercial parcels rather than a house lot. Developers, municipalities and solar. The machines and the rates are the same and what changes is the scale.
A corridor cut to a width you set, for utility and highway work. The day count follows what is standing in it rather than the distance.
A way in from the road, a fence line, a firebreak. Cut to the width you give us and stopped there.
How we work, and why
None of this is unusual in the trade. It is unusual to write it down, which is the only reason it is here.
An acre of open pasture and an acre of closed hardwood are different jobs. Pricing by the acre assumes they are the same, which is why an acreage quote either overcharges you or gets revised on the day. We quote days, and we publish what a day costs.
Not from a parcel number and usually without driving out. Two or three pictures with something in frame for scale answers most jobs, and you get the number the same day more often than not.
From $3,000, $3,500 and $4,000 a machine day depending on which machine your ground needs. They are on every page of this site rather than behind a form.
Town, month, acreage, machine and days. That log is where every number on this site comes from, including the ones that do not flatter us.
If the ground needs something we do not do, we say so rather than take the booking and work it out later.
Mulching grinds what is standing and leaves it on the ground as chip. If you want material removed that is a separate job and a separate number.
How a job runs
Four steps, and the first two cost you nothing.
From the road, from inside, and something in frame for scale. If part of the ground is wet for months of the year, photograph that part too.
Usually the same day. It is a number of machine days against a published rate, not a range and not a figure that moves once we are on site, unless the ground turns out different from the pictures.
The head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. Nothing is stacked at the frontage, nothing is burnt and no trucks run in and out.
Not bare ground. Chip spread where the growth stood, which holds the surface through the wet months and slows down what tries to come back.

A machine day is a full day. We do not sell half days, because loading, hauling and unloading a machine costs the same whether the ground is a third of an acre or three.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

We do not have a figure for the work between late 2021 and October 2023, so we are not going to print one. What is above is the part that was logged.
What we are not

Of the 241 finished jobs on our record went in a single machine day. That is the number behind the way we price: most work is one day, and the question worth answering before you book is whether yours is one of them.

Three things worth knowing before you hire anybody for this work, including us.
We are insured and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Ask every contractor you talk to for theirs, and ask to see it rather than be told about it.
Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching. If somebody tells you they are licensed for it, ask which licence, because the answer is usually a business tax receipt or a licence for something else entirely.
Tree rules are written by each county and each city and they are not the same. What is protected depends on the species, the trunk size and how your parcel is classified. We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees before you commit.
Questions people ask about us
How long have you been doing this?
We started in late 2021. The job record printed across this site starts in October 2023, which is when we began logging every job with its town, month, acreage, machine and day count. We would rather show you the part we can evidence than make a claim about the part we cannot.
Why is there no price list by the acre?
Because it would be a guess. The thing that decides a job is what is standing on the ground and how long it has stood, not how the parcel was drawn. We sell machine days, we publish what a day costs, and we work out how many days from your photographs.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
Do you take the roots out?
Not on a mulching job. The head grinds off everything standing and leaves the root plate in the ground. Lifting roots out is grubbing, it is the excavator, and it is a different rate.
How far do you travel?
We have worked 57 of Florida's 67 counties. Transport on the bigger two machines is quoted separately and shown as its own line, so distance is a number you can see rather than a reason to say no.
What if my job is bigger than anything on your record?
Say so early. The largest single tract on the record is 66 acres and the longest booking is 22 machine days. Anything beyond that is planned differently and we would rather talk about it before you send photographs than after.
