How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the lot size, and a note on what you want left standing. Tell us about the access from the road, because island lots vary.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Every Bokeelia lot so far has been one day on the skid steer.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. Everything stays on your lot, which on an island is the whole argument, because nothing has to be carted back over the bridge.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet season and slows down what comes back.

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Every Bokeelia job has gone out on the skid steer mulcher, which is the machine with transport included rather than added, and that matters more here than on the mainland.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

Lee County regulates vegetation removal, and coastal and island parcels carry questions that inland ones do not.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and native species are treated differently from invasive exotics such as Brazilian pepper. Mangrove is protected separately under state rules. There are also conservation holdings on and around the island that place conditions on neighbouring ground.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs, and say how close the lot runs to the water. On this island that is the question most worth settling before anyone books a machine.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Lee County or the state, for anything near mangrove before you commit.

How much does it cost to clear a lot in Bokeelia?
From $3,000 a machine day, and all three of our island lots have been a single day at half an acre each. Send photographs and we will confirm rather than leave you guessing.
Does being on an island cost extra?
Not as a separate line. Every job here has gone out on the skid steer mulcher, which has transport included in its rate rather than added to it. If your ground needed one of the bigger machines, transport would be quoted, and we would tell you before you booked.
How long does it take?
One machine day, three times out of three, on half acre lots. We have not yet done a large or badly tangled parcel on the island, so if yours is either, expect us to say so rather than assume a day.
Will you take out Brazilian pepper?
Yes, and on most island lots that have sat it is the bulk of the job. Mulching removes the standing growth in one pass. Where roots have to come out too, that is grubbing with the excavator rather than a mulching head.
My lot backs onto mangrove. What then?
We stop short of it. Mangrove is protected separately under state rules and we will not clear it on a verbal assurance. Show us where the line is and we will work to it.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on your lot as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned, and nothing carted back over the bridge.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
