What we clear in Fort Myers

Eight things we are actually asked for on Lee County ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.

Forestry mulching

One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.

Vacant and infill lot clearing

A parcel that has closed in while the city grew round it, back to usable ground in a day.

Underbrush removal

Brazilian pepper and palmetto taken out from under the palms and pines you are keeping.

Storm regrowth clearing

Ground that closed in fast after a storm season and needs opening before anything else can happen on it.

Selective clearing

You mark what stays and we cut round it. On a city parcel the mature shade is usually what is worth protecting.

Home site preparation

Building envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before your builder arrives.

Excavator clearing and grubbing

Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.

Boundary and easement lines

Easements, the strip along the road and the line between you and next door, cleared without touching what the neighbour wants kept.

Who calls us in Lee County

Owners of a held lot

A parcel bought years ago that has quietly closed in. The commonest call across this county.

Storm affected owners

Regrowth and tangled timber after a storm season, cleared without a convoy of trucks down a residential street.

People about to build

Clearing the envelope, the drive and the pad before the builder mobilises, so the site is ready rather than a delay.

Owners of east county acreage

Larger parcels out towards Lehigh and beyond where the growth has closed in and the fence line has disappeared.

Owners fighting pepper

Brazilian pepper takes ground here faster than almost anything. Mulching removes the standing growth in one pass.

Sellers and agents

A parcel nobody can see across is a parcel nobody buys. A day with a mulcher shows the buyer what they are actually looking at.

How the work runs

Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.

Send photographs

Pictures with something in frame for scale, the lot size, and a note on what you want left standing. On a city parcel a shot of the access matters as much as one of the growth.

We give you a real number

Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Every Lee County job we have run so far has been a single day.

One machine, one pass

The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.

You get a mulch layer

Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet season and slows down what comes back.

What it costs

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Lee County is the most consistent county on our books: nine jobs, nine machine days, not one of them running over.

Skid steer mulcherFrom $3,000

Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine for a Fort Myers lot or a small parcel

Excavator mulcherFrom $3,500

Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport

Dedicated mulcherFrom $4,000

Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run

What moves the day count

Trees you want keptWet season groundStorm tangled timberAccess and kerb cutsHow thick the pepper isSeveral lots in one visit

The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

What we have actually done in Fort Myers

Two finished jobs in the city and nine across Lee County, all of them single machine days. This is the whole record.

Nov 2023Half an acre in Fort Myers, 1 machine day
Mar 2024One acre in Fort Myers, 1 machine day, with the skid steer mulcher
BokeeliaThree jobs on Pine Island, half an acre each, 1 machine day each
Elsewhere in the countyFour more jobs at St James, Bonita Springs and Lehigh Acres

Nine jobs across Lee County and nine machine days. Every single one finished inside a day, which is the most consistent record we have anywhere in Florida and says as much about the ground as about us. It also means we have not yet been asked for a large or badly tangled parcel here, and we would rather tell you that than pretend the record proves more than it does.

The ground on a Lee County parcel

What grows hereCabbage palm and slash pine over saw palmetto, live oak on the better ground, and Brazilian pepper heavy through anything disturbed or storm damaged. Melaleuca appears on wetter parcels out east
What that means for a machinePepper mulches quickly once the machine is into it, which is a large part of why every job here has been a day. Palmetto root mat and storm tangled timber are the slow parts
WaterFlat low lying ground with a high water table and a canal network through the developed areas. Tracked machines cope but slow after heavy rain
AccessCity frontages with kerbs in town, and wider rural approaches out east. On a tight parcel a photograph of the entrance and the street is worth more than one of the growth

Lee County jobs finished inside a single machine day. It is the most consistent county on our books, and it means we have not yet met a hard one here.

What customers say

★★★★★

FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.

Jenny Anderson
★★★★★

We had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.

Joseph Kelly
★★★★★

These guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.

Before you book: trees on a Lee County parcel

Lee County regulates vegetation removal, and the City of Fort Myers and the other municipalities each run their own code. Which applies depends on your address.

What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and native species are treated differently from invasive exotics such as Brazilian pepper and melaleuca. Work near mangrove or the river carries separate state rules, and a parcel inside a municipality is not automatically governed by the county.

Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. We will tell you which trees look like the ones worth asking about before you spend anything.

We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Lee County or the City of Fort Myers before you commit.

Fort Myers questions

How much does it cost to clear a lot in Fort Myers?

From $3,000 a machine day. Both our Fort Myers jobs were a single day, at half an acre and a full acre. Send photographs and we will give you a day count rather than a range.

How long does it take?

Every one of our nine Lee County jobs was a single machine day. That is genuinely unusual and it reflects the ground as much as anything. If yours is heavily storm tangled, expect us to say so rather than assume a day.

Has storm regrowth made lots worse?

On a lot of parcels yes. Pepper comes back thick and tangled timber slows a machine down more than standing growth does. It is still one pass, it just takes longer, and we would rather flag it in the quote.

Can you get a machine onto a tight city lot?

Usually, and it is worth settling first. Send a photograph of the entrance and the street as well as the growth. Frontage width, parked cars and turning room decide the approach more than the size of the parcel.

What happens to everything you cut?

It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On a residential street that is the whole point.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on the species and size of what is standing, and on whether your parcel sits inside a municipality or in unincorporated Lee County. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.

Are you licensed and insured?

Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.

Send a few photographs, the lot size and a note on what you want left standing. Include a shot of the entrance and the street, because on a city parcel access decides the approach as much as the growth does.
