Land Clearing in Wildwood, Florida
Forestry mulching, underbrushing and lot clearing across Wildwood and north Sumter County. One machine cuts, grinds and spreads in a single pass, so nothing is piled, burned or hauled off your street.
- Priced from photographs, usually same day
- Both Wildwood lots cleared in March 2026
- From $3,000 a machine day
What we clear in Wildwood
Eight things we are actually asked for on north Sumter ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.
One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.
Wildwood is growing fast and most of what we are asked for here is ground being made ready rather than ground being tidied.
Palmetto, briar and privet taken out from under the oaks and pines you are keeping.
You mark what stays and we cut round it. On a new homesite the mature oaks are usually worth the extra time.
Building envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before your builder arrives.
A line you can run wire along or walk, cut without disturbing what is either side.
Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.
A drive line in from the road, and a cut line between your buildings and the scrub.
Who calls us in Sumter County
The main call here. Clearing the envelope, the drive and the pad before the builder mobilises, in a part of the county that is building quickly.
A parcel bought before the area grew, now closed in and needing opening up.
Ground that needs to be presentable and passable while permitting runs, without staging a haul operation.
Grazing ground reverting to scrub, put back into use without a burn permit.
Two lots in one visit is exactly how our March 2026 work here was booked.
A parcel nobody can walk is a parcel nobody buys. A machine day changes what a buyer is looking at.
How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the lot size, and a note on what you want left standing. If there is a second parcel nearby, mention it now rather than later.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Both Wildwood lots were a day each.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet months and slows down what comes back.

Photographs from jobs we have run. Nothing here is stock photography and nothing here is generated.

What it costs
We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Both Wildwood lots ran on the skid steer mulcher, the machine with transport included, and both finished in a day.
Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine recorded on both of our Wildwood lots
Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport
Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run
What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.
What we have actually done in Wildwood
Two finished jobs and two machine days, both in March 2026. Our most recent work in the county.
| Mar 2026 | A quarter acre, 1 machine day, with the skid steer mulcher |
| Mar 2026 | Half an acre, 1 machine day, with the skid steer mulcher |
| Webster | Two more jobs down the road, a fifth of an acre and half an acre, 1 machine day each |
| Bushnell | One more job in the county |
Both Wildwood lots came in the same month and both were single days on the skid steer. Across Sumter County we have finished five jobs in five machine days, and every one was a single day. Nothing here has been larger than half an acre yet, so if you have several acres our Hernando record is a better guide than this one.
The ground on a north Sumter parcel
| What grows here | Live oak and laurel oak with cabbage palm on the better ground, longleaf and turkey oak on the sandhill, and palmetto and briar through anything left standing. Newer ground being opened up often has less understory than the older held lots |
| What that means for a machine | Quick, on the whole. Sandhill carries a tracked machine easily and the parcels here are small enough that a day covers them comfortably |
| Water | Drier on the ridge, wetter towards the lakes and the low ground. A wet week matters on the low ground and barely at all higher up |
| Access | A mix of new subdivision streets and older farm tracks. Gate width and a firm approach are worth a photograph before the day |
Cleared in the same month at Wildwood, a machine day each, both on the skid steer. Booking together with a neighbour is the cheapest way to buy a day.
What customers say
FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.
Jenny AndersonWe had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.
Joseph KellyThese guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.
Adam WilsonBefore you book: trees on a Sumter County parcel
Sumter County and the City of Wildwood each have a say depending on where your parcel sits, and land being developed is treated differently from an established homesite.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and whether the parcel is a single family homesite or land being developed. In a fast growing part of the county the development questions come up more often than the tree by tree ones.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If you are clearing ahead of a build, say so, because the questions worth asking are different.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Sumter County or the City of Wildwood before you commit.
Wildwood questions
How much does it cost to clear a lot in Wildwood?
From $3,000 a machine day. Both lots we cleared here were single days, at a quarter acre and half an acre. Send photographs and we will confirm rather than leave you guessing.
Can you clear before my builder starts?
Yes, and it is most of what we are asked for here. Envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground so the site is ready rather than a delay. Tell us the build timeline when you send photographs.
Can you do two lots in one visit?
Yes, and that is how our March 2026 work here was booked. The machine is already on site and the transport is already paid, so the second lot is materially cheaper than the first.
How long does it take?
One machine day, and every one of our five Sumter County jobs has been a single day. Nothing here has been larger than half an acre, so if yours is several acres expect a different answer.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On a new homesite that chip layer keeps the surface stable until the build starts.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, whether you are inside the City of Wildwood, and whether the parcel counts as land being developed. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
