Land Clearing in Inverness, Florida
Forestry mulching, underbrushing and lot clearing across Inverness and the Citrus County lake country. One machine cuts, grinds and spreads in a single pass, so nothing is piled, burned or trucked off your street.
- Priced from photographs, usually same day
- Two neighbouring acres cleared in one visit, Sep 2024
- From $3,000 a machine day
What we clear in Inverness
Eight things we are actually asked for on Citrus County ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.
One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.
An acre or two that has closed in, back to usable ground in a day and left as mulch.
Palmetto, briar and privet taken out from under the oaks and hickory you are keeping.
You mark what stays and we cut round it. On hammock ground the hardwoods are usually the whole reason the parcel is worth what it is.
Building envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before your builder arrives.
Rides through a wooded parcel, and a cut line between your buildings and the scrub.
Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.
A line you can run wire along or walk, cut without disturbing what is either side.
Who calls us in Citrus County
The standard call here. Ground bought for the trees that now has too many of the wrong ones.
Parcels bought for space and quiet that need opening up before a house, a shed or a fence goes anywhere.
Ground running down towards the lake chain or the Withlacoochee where the understory has closed the view.
Clearing the envelope, the drive and the pad before the builder mobilises, so the site is ready rather than a delay.
Two adjoining acres in one visit is exactly what we did here in September 2024, and it is the cheapest way to buy a day.
A parcel nobody can walk is a parcel nobody buys. A machine day changes what a buyer is looking at.
How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the parcel size, and a note on what you want left standing. If a neighbour wants the same work, say so now rather than later.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Every Inverness job so far has gone out on the skid steer.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet months and slows down what comes back.

What it costs
We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Every Inverness job has run on the skid steer mulcher, which is the machine with transport included, so what you see quoted is what you pay.
Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine recorded on all three of our Inverness jobs
Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport
Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run
What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.
What we have actually done in Inverness
Three finished jobs and four machine days, from September 2024 to February 2026. All of it on the skid steer mulcher.
| Sep 2024 | Two neighbouring parcels at one acre each, 1 machine day each, in the same visit |
| Feb 2026 | Two and a third acres, 2 machine days. The largest here |
| The machine | All three jobs ran with the skid steer mulcher, the one with transport included in the rate |
| Elsewhere in the county | Two more jobs at Beverly Hills and Floral City |
Two of the three were single machine days, and both of those were part of one visit to a pair of neighbouring acres. If you and the owner next door both want clearing, ask together. Across Citrus County as a whole we have finished five jobs and eight machine days.
The ground on a Citrus County parcel
| What grows here | Live oak, laurel oak and hickory on the hammock ground, longleaf and turkey oak on the sandhill, palmetto and briar underneath, and cedar and cypress down towards the lake chain and the river |
| What that means for a machine | Hammock understory mulches cleanly and the sandhill is fast. It is the damp ground near the lakes and the river that slows things, so where your parcel sits matters more than its acreage |
| Water | The lake chain and the Withlacoochee thread through the county, and the low ground between them holds water into the spring. Tracked machines cope, but a wet week can turn a comfortable day into a long one |
| Access | Rural lanes and lake roads, some sand. Gate width and a firm approach are worth a photograph before the day, especially on the parcels closer to the water |

What customers say
FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.
Jenny AndersonWe had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.
Joseph KellyThese guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.
Adam WilsonBefore you book: trees on a Citrus County parcel
Citrus County and the City of Inverness each have a say depending on where your parcel sits, and ground near the lakes or the Withlacoochee can involve the water management district too.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and whether the parcel is a single family homesite or land being developed. Mature live oaks tend to attract more attention than understory growth, and there are conservation and preserve holdings through this county that place conditions on neighbouring ground.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If your parcel runs down to water or backs onto preserve land, mention it, because that is the case most worth confirming first.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Citrus County, the City of Inverness or the water management district before you commit.
Inverness questions
How much does it cost to clear a lot in Inverness?
From $3,000 a machine day. Our one acre parcels here were a single day each. The two and a third acre parcel took two. Send photographs and we will give you a day count rather than a range.
Can you do my neighbour parcel at the same time?
Yes, and we did exactly that in September 2024, two adjoining acres in one visit. The machine is already on site and the transport is already paid, so the second parcel is materially cheaper than the first.
How long does it take?
Two of our three Inverness jobs were a single machine day. The larger parcel took two. Wet ground near the lakes is the thing most likely to push it.
Which machine do you use here?
The skid steer mulcher, on all three jobs so far. It matters to your bill because that is the machine with transport included in the rate rather than added to it.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On hammock ground it breaks down into the soil rather than sitting on it.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, on whether you are inside the City of Inverness, and on how close the work is to water or preserve land. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
