What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

Levy County and the City of Williston each have a say depending on where your parcel sits, and bona fide agricultural land is treated differently from a residential homesite.
What is protected depends on the species, the size of the trunk and how the land is classified. Live oaks of any size tend to attract more attention than understory growth, and agricultural operations are generally handled differently from clearing for development.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If the parcel is in agricultural use, say so, because it changes which questions are worth asking.

Why did one acre take four days?
Because the growth on it was heavy enough to need the dedicated mulcher and slow enough to fill four days. That was February 2024. It is the clearest example we have of why an acreage figure on its own tells you almost nothing about price.
How long will mine take?
Three of our four Williston jobs were a single machine day, including a two acre parcel, so one day is the common case. We will tell you before you book if we think yours is the other kind, and we would rather be wrong in your favour.
Can you clear pasture that has gone back to scrub?
Yes, and it is regular work in this county. The chip layer left behind holds the surface, which matters on ground you intend to graze again.
Will you clear a fence line?
Yes. A cut line you can run wire along without disturbing the pasture either side. Warn us about old wire in the growth, because that is the thing most likely to add a half day.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, on whether you are inside the City of Williston, and on how the land is classified. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
