How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the lot size, and a note on what you want left standing. Palmetto height is worth one shot on its own.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Osceola has run at about a day and a half a job for us.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. On flatwoods sand that layer is what keeps a new build site workable rather than dusty.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

Same machine on both, which is rarer than it sounds and makes the comparison clean. Four times the acreage took three times the days, so the rate per acre improved slightly with size rather than scaling straight. What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and whether the parcel is a single family homesite or land being developed. In a county growing this quickly, the development questions come up far more often than the tree by tree ones do.

The mulching head grinds it off at ground level and spreads it as chip. If you need the roots out as well, that is excavator work and a different machine and rate. Say which you are after and we will price it properly.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On a new build site that chip layer keeps the surface stable until work starts.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, whether you are inside the City of Kissimmee, and whether the parcel counts as land being developed. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
