Who calls us in Santa Rosa County
Sandhill and old field ground north of town that has grown in but is still fundamentally open. This is where our fastest work here has been.

How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the acreage, and a note on what you want left standing. On a big parcel, show us the worst corner rather than the best.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. On sandhill that layer holds moisture and stops the surface drifting.

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Our two Milton jobs are thirty six times apart in acreage and identical in day count, which is about as plainly as the point can be made.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.
What we have actually done in Milton

Eighteen acres and half an acre, same town, same day count. If we priced by the acre one of those two customers would have been charged thirty six times the other for the same amount of our time. The eighteen acre parcel was open ground that a machine could run straight across. The half acre was not. The scope on the January job does not record which machine went, so we are not going to tell you it was one rather than another.

Santa Rosa County and the City of Milton each have a say depending on where your parcel sits, and land in genuine silvicultural use is treated differently again.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and whether the parcel is a single family homesite, working timber or land being developed. With this much pine in the county the silvicultural questions come up regularly, and ground near the river brings the water management district into it as well.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If any of the parcel runs towards the river or a drain, mention it, because that is the case most worth settling before anyone books a machine.

How much does it cost to clear land in Milton?

Can you really clear eighteen acres in a day?
We did, here, in January 2024. The ground was open enough for a machine to run straight across it. It is not a promise about your parcel, it is a demonstration that acreage on its own tells you almost nothing about the cost.
Why would half an acre take just as long?
Because of what was standing on it and how much room there was to work. A machine that has to turn constantly and cut through thick low growth covers very little ground per hour, whatever the size of the parcel.
Do you work near the river?
Yes, and it is slower ground. Softer soil, heavier growth and a real chance that a wet fortnight moves your date. Say so in your photographs if any of the parcel runs down towards water.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On sandhill that layer holds moisture and keeps the surface together.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, whether you are inside the City of Milton, and whether the ground counts as working timber. Confirm with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
