What we clear in Jasper

Eight things we are actually asked for on Hamilton County ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.

Forestry mulching

One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.

Underbrush removal

Gallberry, palmetto and briar taken out from under a planted pine stand you are keeping. The most common brief up here.

Timber ground cleanup

Cutover and replant ground tidied back to something a planter or a mower can work across.

Home and cabin lot clearing

A wooded acre taken back to a building envelope, with the trees you want kept still standing.

Selective clearing

You mark what stays and we cut round it. On river ground the hardwoods are usually the keepers.

Excavator clearing and grubbing

Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher, which is what went to Jasper in July 2026.

Trail and firebreak cutting

Access rides through a block, food plot lanes, and a cut line between your buildings and the timber.

Fence and boundary lines

A line you can run wire along or walk, cut without disturbing what is either side.

Who calls us in Hamilton County

Timber and land owners

Ground between rotations, or a block where the understory has closed in since the last thin. Mulching opens it without disturbing the soil.

Hunting lease and camp owners

Rides, food plot lanes and a clear area round a camp. Quiet, quick work that leaves chip rather than slash.

Homeowners with a wooded acre

A building envelope, a yard you can mow, or a view back towards the trees you actually wanted.

River property owners

Ground running down towards the Suwannee where the understory has taken over and the hardwoods are worth keeping.

Sellers and agents

A parcel nobody can see across is a parcel nobody buys. A machine day usually shows the buyer what they are actually looking at.

Builders and contractors

Site prep on a schedule, with a machine day you can put in a programme and a rate you can put in a bid.

How the work runs

Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.

Send photographs

Pictures with something in frame for scale, the parcel size, and a note on what you want left standing. If it is planted pine, a shot down a row tells us more than an aerial does.

We give you a real number

Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. If we think the ground will need a second day we say so before you book.

One machine, one pass

The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.

You get a mulch layer

Not bare ground and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet months and slows down what comes back.

What it costs

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Jasper has run well for us: five of six jobs in a single day, with a three acre block being the one that needed three.

Skid steer mulcherFrom $3,000

Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine that did four of our Jasper jobs

Excavator mulcherFrom $3,500

Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport

Dedicated mulcherFrom $4,000

Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run

What moves the day count

Trees you want keptWet groundOld fence wireAccess and gate widthHow thick the gallberry isSeveral blocks in one visit

The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

What we have actually done in Jasper

Six finished jobs and eight machine days, from August 2024 to July 2026. This is the whole record, not a selection from it.

Aug 2024One acre, 1 machine day
May 2025Four jobs in the month. Three at an acre in a single day each, and one three acre block that took 3 days
Jul 2026One acre, 1 machine day, with the excavator mulcher. Our most recent job in the county
Elsewhere in the countyThree more jobs in Jennings, 3 machine days, through 2025

Five of the six were finished inside a single eight hour machine day. The three acre block in May 2025 is the one that took three, which is the usual pattern: acreage moves the day count once you are past about an acre of thick understory. Five of the six recorded a machine, four with the skid steer mulcher and one with the excavator.

The ground on a Hamilton County parcel

What grows herePlanted slash and loblolly pine over gallberry and saw palmetto across most of the county, mixed hardwood hammock down towards the Suwannee, and sweetgum and yaupon filling any gap left by a thin or a harvest
What that means for a machinePlanted rows give the machine a line to work along, which is why an acre here is often a straightforward day. Gallberry is denser than it looks and is the usual reason a block runs longer than the acreage suggests
SoilSand over clay rather than the deep sand of the peninsula, so the ground holds together better under tracks but stays wet longer after rain. Winter and early spring are usually the cleanest time to book
AccessRural county roads and timber tracks, generally wide enough. Distance from the interstate is the thing that shows up as transport rather than as day count
5 of 6

Jasper jobs finished inside a single eight hour machine day. Once a block goes past about an acre of thick gallberry, plan on the day count moving with it.

What customers say

★★★★★

FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.

Jenny Anderson
★★★★★

We had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.

Joseph Kelly
★★★★★

These guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.

Before you book: trees on a Hamilton County parcel

Hamilton County is rural and much of the land here is in timber or bona fide agricultural use, which is treated differently from a residential homesite or a development parcel. Worth a look before you decide what comes down.

Silvicultural operations conducted under an approved forestry practice are generally handled differently from clearing for development, and the rules that apply to a subdivision lot inside the City of Jasper are not the ones that apply to a timber block outside it. Work near the Suwannee River may also fall under the water management district rather than the county.

Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. We will tell you which parts of the job look worth asking about before you spend anything.

We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Hamilton County, the City of Jasper or the water management district before you commit.

Jasper questions

How much does it cost to clear land in Jasper?

From $3,000 a machine day. Five of our six Jasper jobs were a single machine day, so one day is a fair starting assumption for an acre of typical ground here. Send photographs and we will give you a day count rather than a range.

How long does it take?

Five of six finished in one day. The exception was a three acre block in May 2025 that took three. Thick gallberry, trees you want kept and wet ground are what push it, and we say so before you book.

Can you mulch under planted pine without hurting the trees?

That is the most common job we do up here. The head takes the understory out and the rows give the machine a line to work along. Mark anything you particularly want protected and we will work round it.

Do you clear food plot lanes and rides?

Yes. Lanes, rides and a cut line round a camp are straightforward mulching work and usually quick, because you are asking for a strip rather than a whole block.

What happens to everything you cut?

It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On sand over clay that layer holds the surface through the wet months.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on whether the land is in timber or agricultural use, whether you are inside the City of Jasper, and how close the work is to the river. Confirm your parcel with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.

Are you licensed and insured?

Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
