How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the parcel size, and a note on what you want left standing. Tell us if the ground is rock, because that changes the machine we bring.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. Homestead ground has run longer than average for us, and we would rather say so up front.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare rock and not a field of cut stems. It holds moisture in thin soil and slows down what comes back.

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Be aware that Homestead work has run longer per acre than most of the state for us: six jobs took fifteen machine days, and not one of them finished inside a single day.

What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

Not one Homestead job finished inside a single machine day, which is unusual for us and worth saying plainly. Two machine days on a one acre parcel is what this ground does. Five of the six recorded a machine, and every one of those ran with the skid steer mulcher.

Miami-Dade County runs a tree removal permit programme, and the City of Homestead has its own code inside the city limits. Worth a look before you decide what comes down.
What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk. Specimen trees and native species are treated differently from invasive exotics, and the county has taken a distinct line on Brazilian pepper and Australian pine for a long time. Agricultural land is treated differently again from a residential homesite.
Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If your job is a grove or a palm block, say so, because keeping mature palms standing is work we have done here and it changes the approach rather than ruling it out.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Miami-Dade County or the City of Homestead before you commit.

How much does it cost to clear land in Homestead?
From $3,000 a machine day. Be aware our Homestead jobs have averaged two and a half machine days each, so a one acre parcel here has more often been a two day job than a one day job. Send photographs and we will give you a day count rather than a range.
Why does it take longer here than elsewhere in Florida?
Dense woody regrowth, mostly Brazilian pepper and Australian pine, over ground where the limestone sits close to the surface. Our six Homestead jobs took fifteen machine days between them. That is the honest number and it is why we quote this county carefully.
Can you clear round mature palms?
Yes. One of our Homestead jobs was a palm grove where every mature palm was kept and the machine worked round all of them. Mark what stays before we come out. Going round costs day count rather than being impossible.
Can you work over rock?
A mulching head grinds the standing growth and does not need to dig, so shallow limestone is not the obstacle it is for a clear and grade crew. Where roots genuinely have to come out, that is the excavator and grubbing, and it is a different conversation on rock.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On thin soil over rock that layer is doing real work holding moisture.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and the size of what is standing, and on whether you are inside the City of Homestead or in unincorporated Miami-Dade. Confirm your parcel with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
