What we clear in Clewiston
Eight things we are actually asked for on Hendry County ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.
One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.
An acre or two of ranch estate ground that has gone back to scrub, taken back to something you can fence, graze or build on.
Willow, myrtle and pepper taken out from under whatever canopy you are keeping.
A line you can actually run wire along, cut without disturbing the pasture either side. Regular work out here.
You mark what stays and we cut round it. On open ranch ground the oaks and cabbage palms are usually the keepers.
Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.
Access rides through a block, and a cut line between your buildings and the scrub.
Mulching leaves everything where it falls. Grubbing does not, so the haul is quoted per job when it applies.
Who calls us in Hendry County
An acre or two on a ranch estate road that has filled in since it was bought. The most common call we take out here.
Pasture coming back to myrtle and willow, and fence lines disappearing into it. Mulching puts the ground back into use without a burn.
The strip between a field and a canal or road, cleared so it stops encroaching and stops hiding what is in it.
Clearing the envelope, the drive and the pad before the builder mobilises, so the site is ready rather than a delay.
A parcel nobody can see across is a parcel nobody buys. A machine day usually shows the buyer what they are actually looking at.
Site prep on a schedule, with a machine day you can put in a programme and a rate you can put in a bid.
How the work runs
Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.
Pictures with something in frame for scale, the parcel size, and a note on what you want left standing. Tell us if the ground has been wet recently, because muck behaves differently from sand.
Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote. If we think the ground will need a second day we say so before you book.
The mulching head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. No separate clear, pile and haul stage, which is where most of the cost and all of the mess normally sits.
Not bare ground and not a field of cut stems. It holds the surface through the wet season and slows down what comes back.

What it costs
We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. Hendry ground has been kind to us so far: five of our six Clewiston jobs finished inside one machine day, including a two and a half acre parcel.
Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine recorded on three of our Clewiston jobs
Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport
Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run
What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.
What we have actually done in Clewiston
Six finished jobs and seven machine days, from March 2024 to January 2026. This is the whole record, not a selection from it.
| Mar 2024 | Two parcels at an acre and a half, 1 machine day each |
| Jul 2024 | Two and a half acres, 1 machine day. The largest here, and still a single day |
| Nov 2024 | Two acres, 2 machine days. The only Clewiston job that needed a second day |
| 2025 and 2026 | One acre in October 2025 and one acre in January 2026, 1 machine day each |
Five of the six were finished inside a single eight hour machine day, and the largest parcel was one of them. Four of the six recorded a machine: three ran with the skid steer mulcher and one with the dedicated mulcher. Across Hendry County as a whole we have finished nine jobs and fourteen machine days.
The ground on a Hendry County parcel
| What grows here | Carolina willow and wax myrtle through the low ground, cabbage palm and live oak on the higher sand, and Brazilian pepper along canal banks and anything disturbed. Torpedo grass fills whatever is left |
| What that means for a machine | Willow and myrtle are soft and fast to mulch, which is a large part of why five of our six jobs here took one day. It is the wire and the wet, not the vegetation, that slows this county down |
| Muck and water | South of the lake the soil is organic muck rather than sand, and it turns soft after rain in a way sand does not. Tracked machines spread the load, but booking in the dry season is genuinely cheaper in day count |
| Access | Ranch estate roads and farm tracks with wide gates, so getting a machine on is rarely the problem. Old fence wire buried in the growth is the thing worth warning us about |
Clewiston jobs finished inside a single eight hour machine day, including the largest parcel we have cleared here at two and a half acres.
What customers say
FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.
Jenny AndersonWe had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.
Joseph KellyThese guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.
Adam WilsonBefore you book: trees on a Hendry County parcel
Hendry County and the City of Clewiston both have a say depending on where your parcel sits, and agricultural land is treated differently from a residential homesite. Worth a look before you decide what comes down.
What is protected depends on the species, the size of the trunk and how the land is classified. Bona fide agricultural operations are generally treated differently from development, and clearing understory or invasive species is usually a different question from taking down a mature native tree.
If your parcel is near a canal or a water management district right of way, there may be a separate authority to speak to as well. Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs.
We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with Hendry County or the City of Clewiston before you commit.
Clewiston questions
How much does it cost to clear land in Clewiston?
From $3,000 a machine day. Five of our six Clewiston jobs were a single machine day, including a two and a half acre parcel, so one day is the realistic starting assumption here rather than an optimistic one. Send photographs and we will give you a day count.
How long does it take?
Five of six finished in one machine day. The exception was a two acre parcel in November 2024 that took two. Wet muck and buried fence wire are what push it, not usually the vegetation.
Can you clear pasture that has gone back to scrub?
Yes, and it is regular work here. Willow and wax myrtle mulch quickly, and the chip layer left behind holds the surface rather than leaving you bare muck to lose in the next storm.
Will you clear a fence line?
Yes. A cut line you can run wire along, without disturbing the pasture either side. Warn us about old wire in the growth, because that is the thing most likely to cost you an extra half day.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. On muck ground that layer is doing real work holding the surface together.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the species and size of what is standing, on whether you are inside the City of Clewiston or in unincorporated Hendry County, and on how the land is classified. Confirm your parcel with the right office rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
