What we clear in Chipley

Eight things we are actually asked for on this ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.

Forestry mulching

One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.

Underbrushing under planted pine

Taking the low growth out from under a stand you want to keep, so the rows are open ground rather than a thicket.

Selective clearing

You mark the live oaks and the longleaf that stay and we cut round them.

Acreage clearing

Multi day work on parcels measured in acres rather than lots, priced as a day count and quoted before the machine moves.

Excavator clearing and grubbing

Where the roots have to come out rather than the top growth being ground off. Our 30 inch excavator mulcher.

Home site preparation

Building envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before your builder arrives.

Fence and boundary lines

A line you can run wire along or walk, cut without disturbing what is either side of it.

Access and trail cutting

A drive line or a run through a parcel, cut to a width you give us.

Who calls us in the middle of Washington County

Owners of planted pine ground

Most of this county is in pine at some stage of rotation. Opening up under a stand, or taking regrowth off ground that has been cut over, is the standard job.

People about to build in the country

Envelope, drive and pad on a parcel where the house will sit well back from the road.

Owners of cut over ground

Ground that has been harvested and left comes back thick. A machine takes it down to something you can see across and walk.

Owners who need heavier work

Not everything here is light regrowth. Where the stems are bigger the machine changes and so does the rate, and we will say which before you book.

Owners with a creek or bay bottom

The bottoms in this county carry titi and hold water. They are slower, heavier work and worth flagging before we quote rather than after.

Sellers and agents

Nobody buys acreage they cannot walk. Opening it up changes what a buyer is looking at.

How the work runs

Four steps, and the first two happen before anything leaves our yard.

Send photographs

Pictures with something in frame for scale, the acreage, and one shot from the road. Say whether the ground has been cut over and roughly when.

We give you a real number

Usually the same day. It is a day count against a published rate, not a guess dressed up as a quote.

We tell you which machine

On this ground that is not a formality. The three jobs we have done in this county did not all go on the same machine and they did not all take the same time.

You get a mulch layer

Not bare sand and not a field of cut stems. Under a stand that layer is what keeps the rows workable rather than dusty.

What it costs

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. The rate follows the machine, and the Chipley job is a clean illustration of why that distinction is worth understanding before you compare quotes.

Skid steer mulcherFrom $3,000

Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine that does most of our day work

Excavator mulcherFrom $3,500

Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport

Dedicated mulcherFrom $4,000

Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run

What moves the day count

AcreageWhether it has been cut overWhere the machine gets inTrees you want keptBay bottoms and wet groundStem size

The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

What we have actually done in Chipley

One finished job, two acres, two machine days, Aug 2025, and it went with the dedicated mulcher.

Aug 2025Two acres, 2 machine days, with the dedicated mulcher
Elsewhere in the countyTwo more jobs in two other towns, an acre each, a single day each
The county totalThree jobs, four machine days. Ours here is the only one that needed two

The dedicated mulcher is the dearest machine we run, and this is the only Washington County job that took it. It is also the only one that ran to two days. That pairing is not a coincidence and it is the most useful thing on this page: the machine and the day count move together, because a heavier machine goes to heavier ground. The other two jobs in this county were an acre apiece and went in a day. Which of those two your parcel resembles is exactly what we work out from photographs.

The ground on a Washington County parcel

What grows herePlanted pine over most of it, longleaf and live oak on the better ground, gallberry and palmetto underneath, and titi thick in the bay bottoms
What that means for a machineGallberry and palmetto under an open stand go quickly. Titi in a bottom is slow, heavy work and it is the most likely reason a parcel here runs to a second day
WaterRolling clay and sand across the uplands with bay bottoms and creek heads cut into it. The uplands schedule easily and the bottoms do not
AccessCounty roads and forestry tracks, with plenty of parcels reached through a gate rather than a made drive. Gate and track width decide more than road frontage does
2 days

And the dearest machine we run, on the only Washington County job that needed either. The machine and the day count move together.

What customers say

★★★★★

FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.

Jenny Anderson
★★★★★

We had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.

Joseph Kelly
★★★★★

These guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.

Before you book: trees on a Washington County parcel

Chipley is an incorporated city, so ground inside the city limits answers to the city and the surrounding acreage answers to Washington County. On planted pine ground it is usually the county.

What is protected depends on the species and the size of the trunk, and whether the land is in genuine silvicultural use or is being developed. In a county with this much planted pine on it the silvicultural question comes up far more often than the tree by tree one does.

Tell us what you want gone and what you want kept when you send photographs. If the ground is in a timber programme of any kind, say so early, because that changes which office you should be asking and sometimes changes the answer entirely.

We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with the City of Chipley or Washington County before you commit.

Chipley questions

How much does it cost to clear land in Chipley?

From $3,000 a machine day. Our job here was two acres and two days. Send photographs and the acreage and we will give you a day count rather than a range.

Which machine did you use here?

The dedicated mulcher, which is the dearest of the three we run. It went because of what was standing, not because of the acreage. Your parcel may well not need it, and we will tell you which machine it does need from photographs.

Why is the dedicated mulcher more expensive than the excavator?

Because the rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem it can take. The excavator handles bigger timber and pulls roots and still costs less per day. It catches people out, so we publish all three rates rather than quoting one.

Two acres took two days. Is that normal here?

It was for this parcel. The other two jobs in this county were an acre each and went in a day. What is standing decides it, which is why we ask for photographs before giving you a number.

Can you clear under a planted stand without taking the trees?

Yes, and it is common work here. Mark what stays, or say which rows matter, and we cut round them.

What happens to everything you cut?

It stays on the ground as mulch, spread as the machine goes. Nothing piled, nothing burned. Under a stand that layer keeps the rows workable.

Do I need a permit?

It depends on the species and size of what is standing and on whether the land counts as silvicultural. Confirm it with the city or the county, whichever your parcel sits in, rather than taking a contractor word for it, ours included.
