What we clear in Tarpon Springs

Eight things we are actually asked for on this ground. If your job is not on this list, say so and we will tell you straight whether it is ours.

Forestry mulching

One machine cuts standing growth and grinds it back into the ground as chip in the same pass. No pile, no burn, no trucks.

Vacant lot clearing

Almost all of our Pinellas work. A platted lot inside a street, cleared where it stands, and the acre here was done in the day.

Underbrushing

Palmetto and briar cleared from beneath oak and pine that stay, which on a north Pinellas lot is usually the reason anyone bought it.

Selective clearing

The oaks and pines you point at are the ones the machine works round. On a lot this size we would rather you marked them in a photograph.

Excavator clearing and grubbing

For the jobs where the root plate cannot be left behind. Our 30 inch excavator, quoted separately from a mulching day.

Home site preparation

Building envelope, drive and pad opened up ahead of the builder, and nothing else on the lot disturbed.

Access cutting

A way in from the street on a lot whose frontage has closed over. Often the first thing we cut.

Fence and boundary lines

A line cut to a width you set, along a boundary, without touching what stands either side of it.

Who calls us in Tarpon Springs and north Pinellas

Owners of a single overgrown lot

The commonest call in this county by a distance. Pinellas has very little raw ground left, so almost everything we are asked for here is a lot inside a street.

People about to build

Envelope, drive and pad taken down to workable ground before the builder mobilises.

Owners with a code letter

An overgrown lot in a made street generates letters. On an acre a single machine day is very often the whole answer to one.

Buyers and sellers

Ground nobody can walk is ground nobody prices properly, and in this county the ground is the expensive part.

People with a wet back half

The bayous and the low ground behind the ridge change what a machine can do and when it can do it. Photograph the wet part rather than leaving us to find it.

People quoted by the acre

On a single acre the acreage tells us nothing at all. What is standing on it is the whole quote, which is why we ask for pictures rather than a parcel number.

How the work runs

Four steps, and the honest part of this one is that the day count in this county varies more than the acreage does.

Send photographs

From the road, from inside, and one of the wettest looking corner. In north Pinellas that last picture changes the answer more often than the acreage does.

We give you a day count, and we will tell you if we are unsure

An acre here was a day. Three acres elsewhere in this county took five. If your lot looks like the second sort we will say so before you commit rather than after.

One machine, one pass

The head cuts, grinds and spreads as it goes. On a lot in a made street that means no pile at the frontage, no burning and no trucks running in and out past the neighbours.

You get a mulch layer

Chip spread where the growth stood. On sandy ground near the coast it holds the surface together instead of letting the first heavy rain take it.

What it costs

We sell machine days, not acres, and we publish the rates. This one was a single day, and another job in the same county was five. Photographs are how we tell which of those two your lot is.

Skid steer mulcherFrom $3,000

Stems to 8 inches. Transport included. The machine recorded on the acre here

Excavator mulcherFrom $3,500

Stems to 30 inches, and grubbing. Plus transport

Dedicated mulcherFrom $4,000

Stems to 24 inches. Plus transport. The dearest machine we run

What moves the day count

What is standing nowHow long the lot has stoodWhere the machine gets inTrees you want keptWet ground and soft edgesWhether the roots come out

The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

What we have actually done in Tarpon Springs

One job, an acre, one machine day.

Oct 20251 acre, 1 machine day, skid steer mulcher
Across Pinellas CountyFive finished jobs and 20 machine days
The slow one in this countyThree acres that took five machine days
What that spread meansAcreage is a poor guide here and what is standing is a good one

The two rows either side of this one are the reason we will not price a Pinellas lot off a parcel size. The same county produced an acre in a day and three acres in five.

What north Pinellas ground does to a day count

Coastal sand ridgeFree draining and quick going where it is open.
Live oak and cabbage palmUsually what you are keeping. Working round them is slower than clearing through them and that is a choice you get to make.
Bayou and tidal edgesSoft, protected in places and not always ours to touch. Where a lot runs down to water we stop short and tell you where.
Brazilian pepperDense, woody and it comes back from anything left behind. It slows a machine more than its size suggests.
Slash pine flatwoodsWhat is left of the raw ground in this county. Standard work and predictable to price.
Lots that have stood twenty yearsIn a built county the lots still standing empty are usually the ones that have been empty longest, and that shows up in the day count.

What customers say

★★★★★

FloridaLandClearing.com was beyond helpful in getting our property cleared. They were spot on with their quote, their crews arrived on time, and the machines they used were impressive to watch.

Jenny Anderson
★★★★★

We had a difficult project a few other companies attempted and left. Florida Land Clearing was able to get the job done and a day earlier than quoted.

Joseph Kelly
★★★★★

These guys are pros. Watching these machines just devour acres of underbrush in a day was one of the coolest things I have seen. I cannot believe how this transformed my property.

Permits in Tarpon Springs are yours

Every county and city in Florida writes its own tree rules and they are not the same. What is protected depends on the species, the size of the trunk and how your parcel is classified.

Pinellas is almost entirely inside city limits, so for most parcels here the city is your authority rather than the county. Municipal rules in Florida tend to be the stricter of the two and the tree list is usually longer.

Where a lot runs down to a bayou or to the gulf there are shoreline and wetland rules sitting on top of the tree rules, handled by a different office again. If there is water on your parcel, start there rather than finishing there.

We are a clearing contractor, not the permit office, and we do not file applications. Confirm your own parcel and your own trees with the City of Tarpon Springs or Pinellas County before you commit.

Tarpon Springs questions

What does it cost to clear a lot in Tarpon Springs?

From $3,000, which is one machine day. The acre we cleared here was one day. Whether yours is depends on what is standing on it rather than on how big it is.

Why did an acre take a day when three acres elsewhere took five?

Because the three acre job was closed, wet in places and had timber through it, and this one did not. It is the clearest example on our record of why we price from photographs instead of from acreage.

Can you work a lot with houses either side?

Yes, and it is most of what we do in this county. One machine goes in, nothing is stacked at the frontage and no trucks run in and out. Send a picture of the gap you expect us to come through.

What about the wet back half of my lot?

Photograph it. Soft ground changes which machine comes and sometimes changes the month we would rather do it in. It is much cheaper to know before than to find out on the day.

Do you work the rest of Pinellas County?

Yes. Five finished jobs across four towns, listed on the county page with their acreages and day counts next to them.

Are you licensed and insured?

Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
