What moves the day count
The rate follows the machine rather than the size of the stem, which catches people out: the dedicated mulcher costs more than the excavator even though the excavator takes bigger timber and pulls roots. Transport is the cost of getting the bigger two machines to you and is separate from hauling material away, which is quoted per job.

What west Panhandle ground does to a day count

Every county and city in Florida writes its own tree rules and they are not the same. What is protected depends on the species, the size of the trunk and how your parcel is classified.
If your lot sits inside the Pensacola city limit then the city is your authority rather than the county, and municipal rules in Florida tend to be the stricter of the two. A great many lots in this area sit close to that line.
Removing listed invasive growth is usually treated differently from removing a native tree, and live oaks in particular tend to be protected. If there is one on your lot, ask before you clear rather than after.

Are you too far away to be worth calling?
No. We have finished work in 57 Florida counties and Escambia is one of them. Transport on the bigger two machines is quoted separately so you can see exactly what the distance costs rather than having it buried in a rate.
Do you charge a half day?
No. We sell full machine days. On a single acre lot a day is normally what the job takes anyway, which is what both of our jobs here show.
Will you take out a live oak?
That is usually a permit question rather than a machine question, and the answer depends on your parcel and your authority. Ask before you clear. We would rather work round it than put you in front of a code officer.
What happens to everything you cut?
It stays on your ground as mulch, spread as the machine moves. Nothing is piled, burned or trucked away.
Are you licensed and insured?
Insured, and we send the certificate before the machine moves. Florida does not issue a contractor licence for forestry mulching, so nobody holds one. Insurance is the document worth asking every contractor to produce.
